“Thank You” … [blush]

‘Tis the season of being thankful. Many good deeds are being done and praises of “thank you” are everywhere! Both giving AND receiving a “thank you” is a fabulous way to warm your heart, which is especially needed during this crazy 2020. But with so many words of thanks being said, they can get lost in the shuffle. Let’s give it a little boost!Recently I made a gift for someone. It took quite a bit of time, but it made me really happy to do it (BONUS!). I received an immediate “thank you” … but she went way further than simply those two words. She acknowledged how much time it must have taken me to do this for her, and also threw in a comment about talent [BLUSH] directly related to the gift. My heart swelled with pride, and she smiled as she said it.Did I say recently? I should…

“To Do”

I guess I should have paid attention to the early warning signs – slow to start, lots of odd noises, sluggish response to anything, a need for multiple restarts on busy days. Then BAM – my computer died. In retrospect, it was a slow death, but at the time, it was a sudden and immediate loss that came out of nowhere. I ran to my ER doctor (aka, my hubby) who tried, for days, to revive it. Sadly, we finally marked its “date of death” somewhere in mid-June.I back up my computer so that wasn’t an issue. It was the absolute paralysis of finding a new one that caused me problems. I can use the heck out of Photoshop for my photo editing, I love keeping things organized in Quicken, writing in Word is pure happiness, and don’t even get me started about how awesome Excel is for its spreadsheets.…

Bee Safe and Happy

“Bee” Safe and Happy!

Have you noticed that we’ve started to appreciate the little things? It wasn’t long ago that my kids and I would run through our daily schedule each morning to keep us on track (a morning schedule review is a great tool for us ADHDers!). I felt like we never lived in the moment, but instead, always wondered what was next.Today, the rare socially distant walk with a friend means so much more. I find that that one simple event is enough to make the day, or even a few days, special. As quarantine restrictions are slowly eased, it will be easy to get caught up in packing our calendars again. This is especially the case for us ADHDers who crave interaction and activity. Instead, and this will take practice, take the time to be in the moment, "bee" safe and happy!

Click, “Chirp!”
Introducing our chicks and writing

Click, “Chirp!”

Click, “Chirp!” … Click “Chirp!” … Click “Chirp” … our chicks seem to echo each key I hit with a “Chirp!” As they exercise their voices and my kids exercise their mothering skills (I have lots of stories!), I exercise my writing skills between periodic giggles of our quarantine adventure, or Quar-Adventure, at home.I enjoy the family time during our Quar-Adventure, but it does come with its struggles, especially for this ADHDer. In my head I sometimes feel like there is a hurricane of “to-do list” thoughts swirling around. So, I’ve recently turned back to, and found comfort in, my morning ritual of a list. As I posted on my Facebook page (link on the top right of this page), each morning I write my goals for the day on the left of a piece of paper, and long-term, carry over goals on the right. When I feel lost during…

My First Book During Quaran-silly!

I somehow pictured my first blog entry to be filled with UNICORNS and RAINBOWS, as I gleefully announced the completion of my first book, My Own Superpowers! Ok, more realistically, it would be filled with signs of spring. I’d describe the wonderful scents wafting by my nose as I sat poolside, researching literary agents and watching my kids and their friends dare each other to jump into the freezing cold water.  The scents are here and the pool is almost open, but the friends are absent, as they are in every household across much of the world while we hunker down in quarantine. While our world may be a little different right now and not at all what I’d pictured in my head, let’s turn to what we do have. We have family, we have the ability to communicate, we have some slow time, and … we have the ability to…
